Janet* is improving her digital skills through Learn My Way and Make It Click, helping her to feel more confident to look and apply for jobs online.
After working as a carer for many years, Janet had no digital skills at all. She didn’t know how to send emails from her phone, use social media or sign up for Universal Credit.
Janet lost her job after being accused of a crime at work, leading to her spending 3 and a half months in prison - she has always maintained her innocence.
Upon leaving prison, Janet began attending sessions at the Kensington Community Learning Centre, which is part of the Online Centres Network, to help her to develop the digital skills she needed to get back into work.
“Whatever job she looks for she will need digital skills, either just applying for it or, in the position,” says Centre Manager Debbie.
After her induction at KCLC, Janet says, “I felt really comfortable with the staff. I would recommend anyone to come to KCLC as they are very helpful, polite and kind”.
KCLC Centre Manager Debbie says, “Janet has found Learn My Way very useful and enjoys being able to work through it at her own pace - she can now send an email with little support and is a lot more confident logging onto the computer and accessing our resources.”
Janet plans to continue to progress through our Make It Click courses and is eager to use her new skills to find a new job.
