Get Online Week: Victoria

10 Feb 2022

Victoria has been taking online courses to improve her employability and find new opportunities.

Victoria, 19, had plans of pursuing a career in the care industry, but was overwhelmed by her lack of qualifications. She struggled to use laptops and PCs to complete online tasks and needed support to develop her basic digital skills.

Determined to improve her situation, Victoria signed up to digital skills training at the Libertie Project. This allowed Victoria to work on her digital skills and begin taking action to build her career, studying online courses in Communication, Health and Hygiene. She has also started a SQA Level 4 course in ICT.

The Libertie Project also sourced a free laptop and data package to support her studies.

Thanks to the help of her local Online Centre, Victoria built her self-confidence and gained new skills and qualifications. This has had a positive impact on her mental health. She says, “getting online and studying has really improved my life and made me feel more positive about my future”.

Victoria hopes to continue studying. She says “I didn’t think I would be able to study online but getting the laptop and support to learn how to use it and the online courses has been amazing. I feel like I have more opportunities now.”
