Edward: getting to grips with money

04 Jan 2019

Edward Felmingham has been learning how to manage his money more easily and overcome debt using computers and the internet at his local Online Centre in Liverpool, Kensington Community Learning Centre.

Sadly, Edward and his wife both became unemployed around the same time. On top of this, they were having some issues with their council tax, which meant they ended up in a sticky situation with money.

Edward had been going to Kensington Community Learning Centre to help with his job search, after a recommendation from the Jobcentre, so he decided to ask the Kensington team for some money advice too. The team helped him use computers and the internet to get more of a grasp on his situation, and now, in Edward's own words, he's on an "even keel". The support and advice he received meant he has been able to take control of his finances and find a new job.

Edward says: "I feel good and I've even got a smile on my face most of the time now. If there's no money you can't do anything - you can't feed yourself and you have no gas or electric. I'm so proud of myself because of how far I've come. I'm proud of myself and the people here that have helped me along the way. I couldn't have achieved what I have if I wasn't coming here."
